Anyone interested in a relaxed-roleplay site based on DBZ to pass the time? Check it out the people are fun and the rules restrict power gaming. Meet me there are Trouza.

http://doragonboru.freeforums.net

Also from the same group of roleplayers but relatively newer and fewer, this one has a dice system in compared to the freeform relaxed RP.

Warlords: Three Kingdoms

If you're like me, you probably miss the golden age of sims, being able to quench your thirst for roleplay and intrigue through various sites that popped up left and right. Well the nostalgia motivated me enough to dust off simwarlords.net's rules and tools to build a condensed version that I'd like to present to those still active in the sim community.

The idea behind this version of Warlords was to make it slick enough that I could run it with a skeletal crew (like just me!) yet be able to scale should a revival occur and a sudden burst of interest happen. Basically, every single game concept is automated through tools and what interference is needed by staff is done at the touch of a single button. I'm hoping this allows for the game to run smoothly and give way to some great roleplay and staff / player interactions.

Not knowing if there would be interest, I kept to the basics for this version. Most of the mechanics are dedicated to battle, the civil portion of the game has been dumbed down to basically amassing soldiers and gold to conquer the objectives set by the story line. Setting is the three kingdoms because it is the one I know and without the original Warlords staff I did not dare venture into unknown territory. The game will place the players as ambitious officers that can amass an army and conquer a set of villages, towns and cities in the northern part of Jing. In 220, after Guan Yu defeated Cao Ren but before he could seize Xiangyang, he was informed of Lu Meng's invasion of Jiangling and withdrew to defend. Cao Ren was left depleted behind his walls. Guan Yu and Lu Meng faced off on the battlefield and Lu Meng was victorious but both armies were utterly destroyed. In this version of history, Lu Meng was unable to capture Guan Yu who was saved by Liu Feng and returned to Yong An. In quick succession, many of the settlements around all three cities decided to become independent until a clear winner emerged but they were soon overrun by local bandits and warlords. As it stands, all three generals seek to gain control of Jing and have secretly offered rewards and support to unknown men of talent.

With their respective lords occupied on other fronts and supply demands coming from the front lines, the three cities will have a hard time gaining back their authority. Players will be able to join a faction of their choice or better yet strike out on their own to try and unite Jing under their command.

So come check us out at Warlords. If you were a user from back in the day, your login should still work. Deadline for turn 1 submission is set for Tuesday march 21st 9am

AGES OF WAR

After a while of working on this, Ages of War is finally ready for play! Inspired by games such as Crusader Kings, the RoTK series and SimRTK, Ages of War takes place in a alternate history after the battle of Hastings in which William the Conqueror died along with King Harold of England. Both character and ruler sign ups are open, hoping to have the game off the ground and running in a week or two! Hope to see you there!
SUCCESSION CRISIS

In January of 1066, King Edward the Confessor of England passed away. His death would set into motion a large succession crisis for the crown. While Harold Godwinson would take the throne, he had two major opponents; Harald Hardrada, the Hard King of Norway and Duke William of Normandy. Both Harald and William started to prepare their own invasions. In response Godwinson gathered forth his army and placed them in southern England to wait for the Norman invasion.

BATTLE OF STAMFORD BRIDGE

Hardrada landed in York in September, meeting with Tostig Godwinson; the exiled brother of King Harold, along with his forces he had recruited from Flanders and Scotland. The combined forces of Harald and Tostig defeated the English resistance led by Edwin, Earl of Mercia, and Morcar, Earl of Northumbria. Upon hearing of the Norwegian army in the north, Harold moved his army from the south to attack his enemy. He traveled for four days gathering more men for his army and on September 25 would launch a surprise attack on the Hardrada’s forces at Stamford Bridge. The battle went on for a few hours before the Norwegian’s lines broke and both Hardrada and Tostig fell. The English pursued and killed more of the Norwegians, thus eliminating the threat in the north. Harold then took his forces and turned back south with the remainder of Edwin and Morcar’s forces to meet the Norman invasion.

BATTLE OF HASTINGS

After landing, Duke William and the invading Normans set up their base, building a wooden castle at Hastings. The English forces would not be able to surprise the Normans, as they were scouted in their advances. As they approached, William marched his army from Hastings to meet Harold’s English forces. The English forces would set up a shield wall, which William would try multiple times to charge and break, failing every time. After one of the failed charges, rumors spread of William’s death among the Norman army. Believing William dead, the Norman forces started to retreat. Seeing the Normans retreat, Leofwine Godwinson, King Harold’s brother, led a charge of the English forces to attack the retreating army. As things started to look bleak for the Normans, Duke William appeared, rallying his army and leading a counter attack against the English. A fierce skirmish ensued, claiming the lives of Leofwine and Edwin. The English forces proceeded to regroup and reform their shield wall. The Normans once again were unable to break the wall, so William feigned a retreat hoping to bait the English forces in. The English took the bait, once again pursuing the Normans. William turned his forces and fought, finally breaking the English defenses. Both armies clashed, causing heavy losses to each army. King Harold would take an arrow to his eye, and would die shortly after. The English army would start to lose morale, until the King’s brother Gyrth rallied the remaining army and continued on with the fight. Gyrth would meet William during the melee and the two would engage in a fight. William would take the upper hand, injuring Gyrth, but before he could deliver the killing blow, William was struck by a javelin in his back. Gyrth would take the opportunity to slay William while he was distracted. With William dead, the Normans retreated back to their castle at Hastings. Once again the English pursued, inflicting more casualties to the Norman army. The Normans routed and returned their stronghold, while the English regrouped and held a coronation ceremony for Gyrth Godwinson, proclaiming him the new King of England.

AFTERMATH

After returning to Hastings, many of the defeated Normans would sail back to France, leaving a smaller force still present under the leadership of William FitzOsbern. Meanwhile, the reign of King Gyrth would prove to last only a few days, as he died due to the wound given to him from William. Now, nearly a month has passed since the battle of Hastings and no new King has been crowned. The lords of England have begun to grow restless, while others made their intentions for the throne known. With the presence of the remaining Normans in Sussex complicating things further, what will become of England as the year 1066 comes to a close? Who shall arise from an Age of War to become the next king of England?

Warlords: Three Kingdoms

Last year almost to the day we successfully launched V5 of Warlords and it went pretty well, active base of 15-25 players at peak. Took a few months for the game to play out and we closed it out early summer.

Today I am proud to announce V6 is starting. Signups are open so if you are craving some Sim gameplay, RPing and miss the interaction with the community in general, come on over. I have built tools to take care of all the mechanics so that we can all concentrate of RP'ing. Two major changes from last version are a new civil mechanics (beyond the gold and soldiers only from last version) with a whole new set of civil skills. Also, we removed the possibility of multiple players joining in on battles, with a small community over here, it was causing issues. You can still join up with your buddy for a solid alliance, you just can't gang up on a single player anymore.

If you have any questions, let me know on here or over at Warlords.

For those who've grabbed a of copy of the recently launched Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition, I'm currently playing on a persistent world called Arelith. It's a roleplaying oriented PW centered on the Forgotten Realms setting (although the the Arelith islands, the local where the game takes place, is it's own setting.)

The server is heavily populated, easy to connect to with the game client and there's no need of additional haks. If you want to give it a shot, both my forum username and player name are Wrips, there. Feel free to send me a message if it does interest you.

please don't shoot me, just throwing a feeler out here. but i have been wondering about sim's lately. i played this site as well and other way back in the day. some might know me as rue or rue goung. but in all my experience i have never seen a warhammer 40k sim. life has gotten busy in my old age but i do have some spare time. time im hoping to invest in getting back onto this site and some others. as well im interested in trying to develop a sim for the 40k universe. my idea is to focus on a new space marine chapter. a player made chapter and fit it in before or around the great crusade. making the players mold it through the years into something new and unique. but im also open to other ideas. if anyone is interested they can get hold of me here by pming me or on discord jake#8697. as well see you all around here.

I'm working on a 3d sim. It's only a raw draft. You can find it here:

http://romegames.nl/rome3D/

So far all you can do online is walk around and hear sound and music.

You can do wonders with three.js a JavaScript library these days, so it loads in the browser. It does require a good graphics card and some memory and works best in the Firefox browser (support for WebGL in edge en IE is apparently not so good).

I also uploaded the code on Github. It works locally on your own PC if you download it from Git, but there is a path bug in the object loader script that prevents the loading of objects like furniture, pottery, animals and certain buildings on the server. I also notice that some virusscanners don't like JS file loading in the browser, but apart from that it works nicely.

Collision is a bit tricky in three.js, but I hear there is library for that too.

When I do the backend after the bug fixing, and provided I can find some good OBJ and MTL files to render things like you know castles, I can do a RTK version or NA version of this.

Ages of War has returned! This time set in the semi-fantasy land of Baden. Rebellion led by the former lumberjack Kyrok has broke out against the tyrannical King Azar. Many have flocked to Kyrok's side to dethrone Azar, but the empire is holding strong against the rebellion. Despite the strength of the empire, the rebellion has pushed close to the Capital of the Golden City. Now the struggle continues as both sides for strategic location just north-east of the Imperial capital. Join a side and fight for glory!

Warlords: Three Kingdoms

For the past three years we have successfully launched V5, V6 and V7 of Warlords and it went pretty well. V7 had over 30 active players, over half still in the game at the end of it.

While I work on some major changes for V8, we're running a second version of V7 we call V7b that will be staffed by Titania. Signups are open so if you are craving some Sim gameplay, RPing and miss the interaction with the community in general, come on over. We have tools to take care of all the mechanics so that we can all concentrate of RP'ing. For the second run of V7, we made some minor adjustments but also have integrated back joint attacks and reinforcements for defenders, allowing more cooperation between players.

If you have any questions, let me know on here or over at Warlords.
