Our forum software has been updated from version 2.0.11 to version 2.0.17. Many of the updates involved in this jump were already manually applied long ago, but it does include some additional security fixes. I’ve also configured the forum to request visual confirmation when new accounts are created (you’ve seen it: some garbled letters are shown and you have to enter them to proceed) in an effort to combat the spam accounts that we’ve seen in the forum.

If anyone has questions, or encounters problems, report them here.

Also, a great way to let me know about forum problems is to use the Kongming’s Archives Problem Report form. Make sure you select simrtk as the problem site. This is the best thing to do if the forum is down or having errors. Bear in mind, however, that I will be on vacation for the next week and a half or so. If there are major problems, you need to contact an admin so they can reach Lady Kerrington, who has server access.

Just another reminder about the forum's avatar rules. Please keep the avatars within 64x80 pixels, and within 6kb of space. This is to ensure a fast loading time for everyone, especially those with dial-up or sub-par connections. We've seen a lot of oversized avatars as of late.

Since it's pretty pointless to make an announcement just for that, i've also updated some of the rules to make it more pleasing to the eye. Also, some of the descriptions has been reworded to make it clearer. Most of the updating were done to the Kingdom Management Chapter.(Nothing was changed though, the only thing that was really changed was the description of Infrastructure.)

Also, please report any broken links in the Rules in the Forum Problems Thread in the Hall of Supremacy. Also, if you find any rules that inconsistent or just difficult to read/understand, or need to be updated, please post in the Suggestions & Feedbacks Thread.

Thanks.

Just some more notes to Rulers...

1) Inactive officers are inactive, therefore they cannot be used in Kingdom Turns. Please make sure that you keep track of your inactive officers. I have suggested before some efficienct methods of keeping track with minimal effort, so that is one option that you may wish to use. If you have inadvertedly used some Inactive officer in past turns, just make a post in the Admin comm thread telling us about it.

2) Remember that you cannot use PC officers until they have posted in the relevant thread in the Officer Information forum. On the flip side, you're not obligated to pay them or even give them PH access until they have.

Please note that all executions, torture, beatings and anything of the like should be run through a Game Master. Even when the situation is that you're in total control of the person and are about to execute him, you should send a PM to a GM notifying them of the situation. It's just a way to help us keep track of events, and to prevent anyone from accusing someone else of cheating.

Thanks.

Two more notes, about PH's.

1) If your PH is an eyesore to look at, one possible reason is that you're using a lot of stickies. Stickies generally makes forums ugly. Most of the threads that some people have about ranks, responsibilities, chains of commands, successions, etc can usually be consolidated into one thread. This is just a suggestion, you don't have to change it if you don't want to.

2) If you want some threads in your PH deleted/pruned, just lock the threads, and put [delete] in the topic name. I'll go around in every PH and prune these threads probably tomorrow or the day after.

Thanks.

After prowling through a certain large kingdom's officer thread, I've purged all the instances I could find of audience hall advertising links from signatures. They're annoying me. ;) The only links people should have in their signatures is a link to their personal officer info. From now on, so I don't have to go through everyone's signatures one by one again, I'm going to enforce that.

For people from other kingdoms that decided to copy this one particular one, please remove your AH links from your signatures on your own. If I catch you..

Alright, getting rather sick of something so easy and almost meaningless being such a disregarded topic, but once more this needs to be said.

Avatar Rules: 64x80, 6 KB

Once again....

Avatar Rules: 64x80, 6 KB

Everyone should now check their avatars and be sure they fit this protocol. In 48 hours, we'll be going through the memberlist and checking avvys. Anyone who fails to fit these requirements will lose avatar rights for an indefinite period of time. Also, Angelfire does not allow linking, so if you are using Angelfire to host your avatar, stop. It doesn't work.

Well, I warned you. Today, people shall start losing their avatars. Already five forum members have lost avatar rights, and more will follow. If you lost yours, tough. You had ample warning, and ample time. Rules are made to be followed here.

In case you people haven't been paying attention, Mongo is going to begin avatar banning from this point on for people who violate the size requirements. This is the last pubic service announcment to be made on the subject. Remove and resize your avatars now, or you will suffer the consequences. Even my patience and kindness has limits, I'm not going to say anything more on the subject.

This is is folks, move it or lose it.

May i please remind everyone not to make purely OOC posts in Role-Playing threads. If you want to make an OOC comment, do so in an OOC thread please. I've already issued three spam warnings about this in the last 24 hours, i don't want to issue any more. Thank you.

Good news for once!

Bobpalindrome has agreed to come back as a Roleplay Master. Don't overwhelm immediately, maybe wait a day or two. ;)

The Han Secret Service is at work again. They're not out clubbing duplicate NPCs like they used to, because.. you know.. I've gotten good at preventing that from happening. ;) Instead, they're fetching new staff members for me. Some of you might know him from other games, but he's on board here now. So give a warm welcome to Kablizzy as a new Game Master. If you want to congratulate him, send your horribly contrived and complicated plots to him instead of me. ;)

Please remember that this forum is classified as a PG-13 forum. In other words, don't put too much graphic violence or sexual situations. Use your common sense. If you still really want to do that sort of thing, take it to private IM's or whereever the rest of us can't see.

There's been too much hostility around these days. It will stop now.

I'm low on patience these days, due to job applications, student society organisations, and other personal problems. I do not enjoy receiving an inbox full of complaints from people, especially on situations that i have absolutely no idea about, and must waste more time reading up on.

It's very simple concept, i really do not understand why it's so difficult to understand. If you can't post something civil, then don't. If someone attacks you, then don't say anything back. PM the staff, it's the best way to do things. Those of you that did PM instead of flame or respond back did the right thing, and i commend you for that.

Since there's so many people of the other kind, i thought it'd make an announcement instead of making individual replies. You are warned. Do not blame me on what will happen to the next person i get to take out my frustration on.

Why can't we all just get along? ;)

And while i'm on the topic, i will be on semi-active status for the next few months.

Double Post..

It has come to my attention that certain individuals, who shall not be named, are crossing on this lovely sim. Spying in a PH is allowed and accepted as long as you do not cross your character. Anything said OOC is not known to you. Anything said IC, but your character is not there, is not known to you. The only thing known is the KT and anything your character knows first hand.

Should you be one of those lovely people who feel they are above and beyond said rule you shall find yourself on the receiving end of a nice, flaming ban stick. If your crossing information is given ooc to another and they cross it ic then both you and the crosser will get banned.

This is your first, last, and only warning on this subject. Should you not understand what your character knows or does not know then PM a staff member for clarification.

Understand children? We are here to play a game. Crossing is cheating. We hate cheaters. Now go behave and play the game.
